Greetings from the Conrad’s

Conrad Christmas Letter – This year marks the start of our third year in Reno, Nevada and we are enjoying all the activities and many new friends. Hiking, watching the Great Reno Balloon Race, Hot August Nights, the Reno Rodeo, working in the Air Races and Ironman Lake Tahoe as volunteers were some of our favorite activities. We also conquered a few mountains to include snow-covered Mount Lassen (this was tough) and Mount Rose.
Family Reunion

A high point of the year was celebrating Bill’s Mom (Virginia) 90th birthday in Reno. It was also a family reunion. Having so many Conrad’s and Hernandez’s was very special. For her birthday, our family hiked part of the Rim Trail and Mount Rose. Grandma made it to 8500 feet.

Kailey & Joanna
Kailey and Joanna are growing up fast. Kailey is 15 and a sophomore at Reno High School. She is doing well in academics and gymnastics. Additionally, she has her driver’s learning permit. Joanna is 13 and in eight grade a Swope Middle School. She had an excellent year in gymnastics. After falling on the beam at state, Joanna fought back on floor, vault and bars to qualify for regionals. In Long Beach, at Regionals (California, Nevada, Arizona & Utah) for age 12, Level 7 she placed 1st on bars and 3rd overall.

Air Guard Challenge
Gymnastics is still very much a part of our lives. Kailey and Joanna workout five days per week, four hours a day at Deltchev Gym and both keep excellent grades. Kailey was injured the week before last year’s season, but despite the injury, she is ready for 2016’s competition, and she is looking better than ever. We are looking forward to the season starting this January. Major meets will be in New York City, Long Beach, San Francisco and Las Vegas (See the schedule at the bottom of this post).
Mount Rose & Mount Lassen

Bryan, our son, is a Lieutenant (03) in the Coast Guard and is an aircraft commander flying the UH65 helicopter. This year is Bryan’s last in New Orleans. He started his aeronautical engineer training and will have a new duty station. Bryan made it out to Reno twice this year, and it was wonderful to see him. He climbed a snow covered Mount Lassen in the early spring and Mount Rose this past summer.
