Nevada is known for not having individual and corporate income taxes. As the US economy recovers,  businesses and residents alike have been flocking to the Silver State for this reason. The $5 billion Tesla “gigafactory” is but one example.  Reno and the surrounding areas are one of the fastest growing job creating regions in the country. This in turn is igniting our housing recovery.

Proposed New Nevada Taxes

Governor Brian Sandoval is proposing $1.1 billion in new Nevada taxes but this week Assemblywomen Michele Fiore, R -Las Vegas, started pushing back and building a coalition to stop the governor’s tax increases.

New Media Gold

This week my husband’s agency, New Media Gold, found itself streaming live a event and news that would go viral across the state. Today’s headline in the Reno Sunday Gazette-Journal is “Tax Fight Takes Shape”

Here is the recording of the netfeed from the RMC that helped stir the debate over the governor’s proposed tax increases for Nevada:

Real Estate Trends 2014

Looking Back at 2014

Reno New Home Construction

Looking back at 2014 national real estate trends, many of them applied to Reno, Nevada and Modesto, California. In my opinion, the overall US economy (Reno, with the Tesla plant and other factors is really taking off) and low mortgage rates are main drivers of the recovery.

Here are the top trends per Realtor.Com

  1. Improving economic fundamentals – Reno is really taking off!
  2. Historically low interest rates http://karenconrad.com/3-down-reno/
  3. Return to normal price appreciation
  4. Foreclosures and short sales declined throughout the year in Reno and Modesto
  5. Large-scale investor purchase decline, leaving more room for traditional first-time buyers.

Mark_AmodeiAs you can hear, we are in a noisy room, after a luncheon, with a face to face interview so there is a bit of back ground chatter but if want to be a congressman, this is the episode to pay attention to, our guest today was born in Carson City in 1958 , served in the Army and in private practice as an attorney, ran for state assembly then state senate, won and now he is a congressman.  He had to run and have the skill sets needed to win and one those many traits he possesses is his close ties to those he represents in this district, so without further ado lets get right into the conversation with our representing from the 2nd District of Nevada, CONGRESSMAN MARK AMODEI.

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT:  If you quit you lost!
